Phoenix Induction Celebrated in Fine Style

On April 14, 2016, the U.S. Coast Guard, with significant help from VectorCSP and the Coast Guard Aviation Association (CGAA), saw the culmination of a major restoration effort with the induction of an H-52 helicopter into the Smithsonian Institution’s Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. Called “The Phoenix Project,” the H-52 (tail number 1426) is the first U.S. Coast Guard aircraft inducted into the Smithsonian’s collection. Watch a video of the 1426 being hung at the Smithsonian here:

Among the speakers honoring both the legacy of the H-52 and the men and women who flew and crewed her were USCG Commandant Admiral Paul Zukunft (pictured), James C. Van Sice (retired USCG Rear Admiral and current President of CGAA), and John Dailey (retired USMC General and current Director of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum).

VectorCSP is proud to have played a key role in this USCG milestone and continues to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of USCG Aviation.
